Basics of Water Loss Control

In a typical water distribution system a large percentage of water is lost in transit from treatment plants to consumers. Leaks waste both money and a precious natural resource.
This course explores the many ways that leaks and other non-revenue water losses can be reduced or eliminated.
Topics covered during this course include:
– Knowing that water utilities are the largest consumers of electricity
– leaks can cause secondary damage to infrastructure, roads and buildings
– leaks present a public health risk during negative pressure events
– causes of leaks
– leak detection methods
– water audit process
– documentation and record keeping
